Shirin Gallery NY is pleased to announce a recent acquisition of an Iman Safaei piece by the Los Angeles County Museum. The piece, entitled Sepeleshk (2014), is from Safaei's series Popular, and made of iron.
Iman Safaei (b. Iran, 1982) is a multimedia contemporary artist based out of Tehran, Iran. His sculptural pieces and works on paper reference signs and symbols of both religious culture and everyday life. Safaei’s unique use of text and graphics are at the center of his interdisciplinary practice, resulting in a wide variety of works. In his own words, the artist explains that his work is “trained on the hegemonic atmosphere of contemporary life—in art, politics, science, and even matters as mundane as diet and fashion.”
